Students will read two award-winning books, The Egypt Game, and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, as we study the Ancient Civilizations. Hands-on projects inspired from these "requested" novels will be a component of our curriculum.
Each student will have the opportunity to strengthen their reading skills and enhance their knowledge of the ancient civilizations simultaneously. These materials will support two integrated unit studies in ELA and Social Studies.
Teaching a culture of literacy is something I have been passionate about providing in my classroom. In order to do this, quality literature is needed. When students read award-winning books, they are exposed to new worlds through the author's voice and become more engaged in the story.
