Not all students love to read. I want to provide a classroom library for my students with a variety of comic books and non-traditional books that will pique their interest. Students often approach classroom libraries with disdain because they do not have books that are fun to read.
By having a classroom full of comic books, mystery novels, and non-traditional books, my students will experience the pleasure of reading through consuming media that speaks to them. My aim of having a classroom library that promotes literacy through books that draw students interest.
Students will use these books for an independent reading project each quarter. But having these books is more than just fulfilling a curriculum goal; it is to foster reading for pleasure.
