Arizona students that are not proficient in English have to take a test every year to test their proficiency. Part of this test requires that they "speak" to the computer so it can assess their conversational English. Headphones with a microphone attached will allow them to practice talking to the computer in English. Headphones also allow for us to take spelling tests on the computer without all students hearing each other's tests speak the words and the sentence to them. Brainpop has a great ELL program that attributes English words to pictures. This is extremely important for ELL students so that they can start attaching this Foreign language to their native one and what each word means in context. Headphones can help each student to work at their own pace through the material and learn many new conversational and high frequency words as they go. Thank you in advance for your help!
