I am teaching 2nd graders. My students are always kind and caring. We focus on positive behavior rather than yelling and screaming. Our school is a PBIS school, which means it stresses positive reinforcement for behavior.
My classroom is on the same side. We use turtle bucks to buy items and services for the day. They learn to save up for what they want and learn to do the right thing because its the right thing to do.
An added layer to this was making the turtle bucks. We have been funded to make them and laminate them. Now I would love to have a camera to have kids picture taken and shared with parents. This will keep parents involved and kids and parents to have something to talk about.
