My students have many challenges ahead of them and the materials provided will help them to solve for tomorrow.
With challenges such as, "Create a parachute that will prevent a paperclip from falling to the floor?" or 'How do you create a project that you can sell from the Student Project store?" my students are excited to tackle the problem. We often run into the same delimma, materials. Students always want things I have not thought of as an option. The list was compiled by the students with the materials they use most frequently or would like that have available for future projects in class.
My students have not spent much time in a class like ours where they are earning points for trying solutions that they design themselves. They are fearful to prototype because they need to make mistakes and grow as engineers. Each mistake is a lesson in itself that propells the learners to the next possible solution. With these materials we will be able to try more things and utilize all engineering process.
