Students are not always aware of what is happening around them on a global scale. We want to bring the real world into our classrooms using current events.
Using appropriately leveled articles, we can bring today's current events to the middle school classroom in a way that is relevant. Jr. Scholastic has bi-weekly magazines that are written specifically for middle schoolers. This will help educate and engage students in current events.
Not only will students read about what is going on, they will analyze charts, maps, and data provided in the articles. There are writing prompts available for students to respond to articles and even provide opportunities for more in-depth research on current trends and news topics. This is a resource for students to interact with and not just read!
