The classroom library was created to provide students an environment to reference books. However, our library is need of an update.
New books will help to expand our classroom library by offering a larger selection for my students to choose from during independent reading. The books will help increase the students’ interest in reading and strengthen their overall reading abilities. The new books will also be used during our class read-aloud lessons. These lessons will help the students increase their verbal proficiency and public speaking skills. Given that most of my students struggle with English, I find that reading comprehension and verbal proficiency are important pitfalls to focus on with the students this school year.
Additionally, contributions will go towards providing students with supplies such as folders, expo markers, pencils, copy paper, and lined paper which are necessary for completing everyday assignments in class. The folders will help promote organization, while the paper and pencils will be used to provide students with the daily supplies they need to succeed in the classroom. In turn, students will not have to worry about not having supplies, and they will be able to focus on the task at hand.
I want to help my students achieve their goals by providing them with items essential for their education. Every contribution will be used to help my group of 12 amazing 5th grade students with special needs perform to the best of their abilities. Let’s make their dreams a reality!
