Young learners have overly active minds! On one hand, this is such an asset to their education as they can soak in every little thing around them. On the other hand, it can sometimes be hard for them to not become distracted by the plethora of things going on in their minds.
Having flexible seating options in the classroom has been statistically proven to increase students' chance of engaging fully with the material at hand.
My wonderful class is filled with 16 movers and shakers! Their energy is incredible and infectious, which means trying to wrangle in 16 energetic kiddos when it's time for math or reading. Having things such as wobble chairs and bouncy seats can keep students at their desks and learning while they work out their energy! Currently, we have to interrupt our lessons and do frequent brain breaks activities to get their energy out so that they can sit still for long enough to get through a lesson. With these additions to our little home of a classroom, we can cut down on time away from our lessons and make even larger academic strides this year in 2nd grade!
