Lecturing and completing worksheets is no longer the way students learn. Programming the robots will be a real-world experience where they are required to see, hear, touch, and communicate with others. Students will be fully engaged while also improving their reading and math skills. They will learn programming and robotics skills, as well as teamwork, communication, and problem solving skills. They also get to showcase their imagination and creative thinking skills.
Introducing kids to science and technology while they are young will make them more competent and confident when these skills become more complex in upper grades. Learning to work with others is an invaluable skill for today's students. My students attend a high-poverty Title I school. They deserve the same opportunities as students in more affluent districts. With your help, my students will discover the exciting world of coding and robotics!
