As a sixth graders new to middle school, some students struggle with making friends, adjusting to a new environment, and acclimating to their new schedules. My goal as a math teacher is to reward students鈥 positive behavior and work ethic. In my classroom, I have a raffle system. Every time a student demonstrates a positive behavior tries hard to accomplish a goal, or even makes a mistake, I give them a raffle ticket. On Fridays, in each one of my three classes, a couple of tickets are called and those students are able to choose a reward from the prize box. Every since starting 鈥淩eward Raffle Fridays鈥 students have wanted to participate more, be a little kinder to their peers, and engage in class discussions.
Unfortunately for me, it is difficult to fund the items that middle school students desire. By donating to my project you would help me to enforce positive behavior and work ethic. While many may not think that it is necessary to provide tangible rewards for students, I believe the exact opposite! I believe that providing tangible rewards that students can work towards earning not only increases positive behavior in the classroom, but it teaches them the valuable lesson of working towards earning rewards for a hard job well done! Thank you in advance for considering helping my class continue to have Reward Raffle Fridays by helping to fund our prize box!
