I believe that Pre-K students learn so much through hands on learning and interaction. Teaching virtually has definitely made hands on learning more challenging. These material would help students engage in more interactive learning with their peers and with me there teacher. I believe it would also make leaning from home a little more fun and like being in a classroom.
I am imaging each of my students receiving these supplies and being so excited, grateful and eager to start learning! The play doh is perfect for helping develop fine motor skills, and learning their letters and numbers. One of the activities I would do with the Play Doh is have them make letters, numbers, and shapes with it. The counting bears and sorters are perfect for helping develop their math skills. We would use these to work on grouping, counting, and more/less than. The linking cubes are also great for developing math skills. These would be used for patterning, and taller and shorter. These are just a few examples of how we would use the materials but there are so many more ideas I have.
My parents already have so much to worry about and I want to give them one less thing to worry about by helping assure them that there child is still going to receive an amazing learning experience despite the challenges of COVID-19.
