The Agency is entering its 12th competition season this year, and we are in need of donors to help us reach our goal of building two robots: one which will participate in FIRST competitions in southern CA, and another which will be taken to community outreach events where we will be able to 鈥渟how what we know鈥 and share our passion for STEM with others.
Over the years our team has always taken pride in being a competitive force by maximizing a modest budget. We stick only to core needs and though our yearly operating budget is usually under $20,000, we regularly advance to the finals going head to head against organizations with 3-4 times the funding.
Your contribution will make it possible for us to build two robots: a 鈥渄emo bot鈥 for public outreach and a 鈥渃ompetition bot鈥 for FIRST competitions.
We have learned that building two robots is an effective way for students to extend their robotics season beyond the competition window by utilizing precious practice time during the off season for students to learn hands-on how to troubleshoot and perfect basic design, build and engineering skills. By participating in community outreach opportunities, our students also develop valuable soft skills as they share the trials and tribulations of building their robots.
Additional funds to support two robots will allow students to troubleshoot design weaknesses before competition and brainstorm improvements which are essential to advancement within the meet. Two robots means more hands-on learning time for every student involved in our program.
