One of my favorite things about being a teacher is learning to be better than I was yesterday. Keeping up with the latest strategies and engagement ideas is a huge part of being an effective teacher. With the ever-changing face of education, we see more and more awesome learning tools available through the internet or computer programs. Incorporating resources like these interests my students and makes learning relevant to them.
One of the most enriching activities that we complete on Chromebooks is virtual labs. Students have the opportunity to experience lab situations that are not possible due to shortage of funds or lack of supplies. Another student favorite is review activities, like Kahoot! and QuizletLive. I love watching my students dig into the content and have fun at the same time! As a teacher, I love being able to search for good resources, like articles and models, and make them available to my students with just a click!
My goal is to eventually have a full class set (30) of Chromebooks. Having a class set will open the door for more fluid use of Google Classroom and Google apps, including being able to drop assignments and resources on Google Classroom and allowing students to submit their work as Google Docs, Google Sheets or Google Slides is efficient and engaging. Most of my kiddos are more tech-savvy then me, so they love this option!
