As fifth graders, my students tend to get restless seating in their desks for the hours they spend in school. Being the "big kids" on campus, they like to spread out and move about their classroom. With stools, students can take their learning and reading to a more comfortable space.
It is important to me to provide a warm and safe learning environment for my students. I want to be able to provide an atmosphere where my students can grow into life long learners. My fifth grade students are active and want to learn and be able to move at their own pace! To do that they can't sit still at their desks all day. I have many places in my classroom for students to be able to work at. They need something hard to write on that will keep their papers organized and whiteboards.
Students needs are unique and different, just like adults and I like to give them the opportunity to move and learn in places that make them the most comfortable even if that means they have to lay and write on the floor or sit on a stool and write on their laps! Each student has different movement needs and a few have medial needs which keeps them active and needing to move throughout a lesson. With clipboards they are able to move and not disturb others who are learning.
