My students are very curious. They want to learn all about science. I asked them to bring in a lab coat/white shirt to wear during science and most of them did. Since science is my favorite subject, I imparted this love on them by assuring them it's ok to make mistakes and that that is how you learn. The know that scientists see a need and through design, programming, engineering and testing they fill that need. In this picture, students we told that there was severe erosion. First, they simulated erosion with sand and a straw where they blew into the straw against the sand and were given materials to prevent it. After which students demonstrated how what they constructed prevented or not and why it did or did not work. They were asked how they would change to make it work if it didn't.
