Games are a fantastic way for students to explore concepts taught in the classroom. Students will develop a greater sense of confidence and approximation through play and application of the math concepts. The games and books were selected because they will support some of the more challenging standards for 4th graders.
Conversations about failures and successes are excellent learning opportunities. Some of the greatest learning happens when we make mistakes and find solutions or corrections for our mistakes. The document camera will allow me to zoom in on students' work as it is happening without having to "recreate" the learning situation on the board via drawing. All students will be able to learn from others and engage in conversations that will foster thinking and solutions.
The math manipulatives will provide some scaffolding to make deeper math connections and help students build a stronger number sense.
