I used to do what all other teachers once did; pass out a paper for morning work and shush all the kids till the morning bell rang. I hated it, the kids hated it, so why did I do it? I did it because I didn't know there was something else, until I came a cross morning work centers. My students got to school super early and I had to entertain them with only a paper. They were less than thrilled and I knew it had to change. Once I learned that they could start their day "playing" in their eyes our class happiness changed. They were learning so much and they were having so much fun!
By supporting me and adding more activities to our class I know that the students' learning and growth with be strengthened. The kids love to build things so by having all of these magnetic toys available to them to explore will be great for their little minds. I have a set of counting bears and the kids have all been so amazed with all the activities involved with them, since I only have one set not many kids can use them so that is why I added more to my list.
I do not currently have any flexible seating in my room and I can see that a few of my students will greatly benefit from having something other than a regular chair. These students are always bouncing around or rocking on their seats that I know some different options of chairs may help their brain to focus less on the tipping of the chair and more on the work that needs to be done.
