My current computer often lags behind when running multiple applications and changing between programs. My Algebra 1 and Geometry PowerPoint presentations are slow to load. On many occasions, I have been forced to reboot my computer to allow programs to operate. A new, faster computer would allow me to operate my classroom more efficiently with less downtime. The larger storage size would allow me to save more of my files on the computer. This would help to improve my loading speed compared to cloud storage. The improved graphics would provide higher resolution for my classroom projector allowing easier viewing for students in the back of the classroom.
In Geometry, students sometimes have difficulty understanding the transformations of polygons, especially rotations. By incorporating interactive programs such as Geogebra into my classroom instruction, students can gain a greater understanding of the effects of motion. With the use of the computer and Geogebra, students can see the changes created by rotations at multiple angles. Students are not limited to the one-at-a-time view provided by a typical pencil and paper lesson.
