I have requested multiple items that should be in most classrooms at the start of a school year. Unfortunately, items such as facial tissue, hand sanitizer, and pencils disappear quite quickly, so as we're moving further into the school year, we are running out. Since my students come from low-income households, they are unable to continuously bring supplies, and as one person, I cannot supply these for my classroom for the rest of the school year.
If my project is funded, each student will be have a composition notebook, dry erase markers, folders, and more. This way, students can focus less on worrying about supplies and more on their education. This will also help them to stay more organized in class. Note-taking and organization are necessary for a student to be successful in math. Without those skills, middle school students are more likely to develop a distaste not just for math, but for school in general. I want to make sure that is not the case for my students. I want my students to have the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate everything that math has to offer them.
