Since this is my first year teaching, I moved into a spacious but empty classroom. The school supplies my classroom with three student computers, but with 20 kids per section, I need more devices in order to reach every student.
Teaching a child at his or her own instructional level is necessary, but it can be difficult. My room is full of 20 different personalities, learning styles, backgrounds, and academic needs. The Iready program, purchased by the school district, is a software program that diagnoses a child's instructional level and then provides lessons based on his/her academic needs. It is individualized teaching at its best.
With more iPads in my classroom, more groups of students can access the Iready program each day. I will rotate groups during centers, allowing each child a chance to work at his/her level. I hope to watch my 38 third graders grow as a result of using the Iready program!
