Reading is a daily activity in our class, and I would love to enhance my students' reading experience by allowing them a variety of flexible seating options. Traditional desks and chairs can be very restricting for some of my more active students, so the mats and comfy floor seats would allow them to spread out and stretch, thus enhancing their focus. By having comfortable seating options like the square floor cushions and laundry baskets with pillows, students will feel secure enough to tackle any reading challenges that come their way. By choosing their seating, students will also feel empowered and a sense of responsibility for their learning.
We have already discussed and practiced how to find the "perfect reading spot," but there are only so many spots (carpet and independent tables) that I can currently offer my students. My students are ready to take charge and be independent in their learning. By donating to our project, you will not only help improve my students' ability to focus and take risks in their learning, but you will aid in bringing our classroom one step closer to being accessible for students of all learning needs!
