Classroom manipulatives give my students hands on ways of learning. My class requires differentiation, and these tools will help me provide this for each student. The Magnetic write and wipe board will help me to have focused hands-on small group instruction at any location in my classroom. The jumbo magnetic ten-frames, place value activity kit, and giant magnetic place values blocks will be another tool to use for hands on instruction and will address the standard of place value and understanding properties of operations to add and subtract (2.NBT.B.8). The 1-120 magnetic number chart and the number line math activity charts will help with instruction while addressing adding and subtracting within 20 and 100 (2.OA.B2/1.OA.C.6 & 2.NBT.B.5). The story builder will help my students while developing their writing skills and identifying key details for a story. The mini magic boards will be a great support tool for writing interventions and aligns with the Fundations curriculum that I use in the classroom. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. During small group instruction students will be able to have movement to allow for a release in energy so they are able to focus better at the academic task. Due to the pandemic and school closures many of my students have fallen behind but access to these manipulatives will help to bridge the gaps that were created.
