Help my students with sensory processing disorders and auditory and visual impairments to have a comfortable and sensory-friendly classroom space. This project will help me create a classroom that is more learning conducive by softening the fluorescent lights and creating a comfy corner for students to decompress and calm down in.
This project also includes items like seat cushions and chair attachments to modify seating for my students who need that sensory stimulation; these aids will promote increased attention. This project also includes a laminator which will help create durable and longer-lasting aids for students. These aids include visual schedules, communication tools, laminated social stories, and visual cues, classroom visuals, and a variety of other useful classroom tools.
My students have a variety of needs, some students are overly sensitive and adversely affected and unable to tolerate lighting and noises that others may not even notice. Some students are also under-sensitive, which may lead them to be extra fidgety and struggle to sit still or have a constant need to touch people and certain textures.
