Student are required to bring their own supplies to the classroom and, often, they are unable to. We have students who don't get to see their parents because they work at night and can't get to a store or can't afford to maintain a large paper or pencil supply. When they have a project due, they often struggle to get the poster board they need or even the pens to complete their assignments. They often have to ask the teachers, which is embarrassing for high school students to do. Additionally, some kids come to school hungry, so a healthy snack would help them keep their minds on school until lunch.
