Many of our students come to school with not enough food to help them concentrate throughout the day. These snacks would allow us to offer a healthy snack for those kids who did not have breakfast and are hungry. By the afternoon the students are so hungry that they have difficulty with staying on task and maintaining focus for their lessons. When we can offer them a healthy snack in the early afternoon, the teacher's have found that the students are more actively involved in the instruction and worktimes in the afternoon.
