In my small, midwestern district, I am lucky to have students with a variety of learning needs. Currently, I use red chairs to set up my classroom. These chairs work great for around 90% of my students, but are not usable by my students with the highest needs. A musical rug will allow all students to be able to sit together while we play instruments, sing musical stories, play games, and learn the music for our performance.
This rug will be used with all students, but will make the biggest difference in the classroom experience of the pre-k through 2nd grade kids. It will allow for quick and safe transitions; and it will let all students sit together in an inclusive environment. Music is for everyone! This project will help make my classroom reflect that.
