My students will read about several real and fictional people who encountered hardships and obstacles, but overcame them and went on to make the world a better place. This year, our class theme is to complete at least 22 acts of service or kindness (#elpasochallenge) so that we may honor the people in our community that lost their lives on August 3, 2019. We will use our magazine and book sets as a foundation for ideas and research. The students will be reading, writing, researching, creating, and presenting as they develop their service projects and activities for their school and community.
