Our world has changed and the importance of teaching my students Social Emotional strategies to help them control their emotions is my #1 priority. Our district trained us this summer on social emotional learning, but we were not given the materials that would greatly benefit this program.
The special books on emotions and writing prompt activity cards will help my students write and discuss what they are feeling at that moment with either the class or myself.
The flexible seating chairs will help when students need to get up and move or to simply move to a quiet calm zone. They also help students focus more and redirects them to their learning. It engages them more when they can select where to sit and gives them the freedom to choose where to learn.
By having books, activities, and flexible seating spots, I know that my students will be more open to share their emotions and feel comfortable in the place where they will be learning on a daily basis.
