Many of our students come to school without the ability to control their emotions. They could be angry, sad, alone, anxious or scared. We embrace all of our students and strive to meet their emotional needs, whatever they need. Throughout our campus, you will find calm corners and places to escape for students to calm their minds and refocus. Our goal is to support our students and teach them powerful tools to use before their behavior explodes.
It is our desire to create a mindfulness, reflection room filled with tools, games and lessons to better help our staff help our students feel safe and calm emotionally. Providing each teacher with Mind Up curriculum will allow us to standardize our message and provide consistency across grade levels. Games and activities will provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful, focused activities during their time in the reflection room and provide them a safe place to go when they feel unable to cope.
