Our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are coming to school with varying academic strengths and challenges, these 8 tablets would help provide differentiation and points of entry throughout our day. If this project if funded, these tablets will be a resource for reading and exploring history/current events. Additionally, they will help my students practice some research and collaboration skills. These uses will make a huge difference in my students' learning and the tablets will have the extra benefit of helping them show their growth.
We can't expect our students to do well on standardized tests they are forced to take when most of them struggle with reading. The tablets will allow students to access a virtual library of books that our classroom cannot hold. This will allow students who are learning to read, as well as stronger readers to access a variety of texts through eBooks, as well as virtual libraries.
One important reason for this project is that my students need to feel confident about reading. Reading is the gateway for many opportunities and all students deserve a strong reading foundation.
