Technology is such an important part of learning in and out of the classroom. I want to be able to provide my students with every opportunity to become proficient using a computer to help them guide their learning.
iReady is an amazing intervention and enrichment program that provides my students with individualized lessons to help them reach their highest potential in reading. This program works in wonderful ways and is also a great tool for helping my ELL/ESL students achieve.
My school currently does not have the most up to date technology. It is sometimes difficult for the older computers to handle the graphics of the newer iReady program, especially when so many are being used at the same time. It is also difficult to find a computer lab time when all of the computers are working at once.
With these Chromebooks, I will be able to provide 3 of my students with time on iReady in the classroom while I work with the rest of the class. I can teach whole or small groups while still getting the required 45-60 minutes per week per student, without stopping to reboot or find computers that work when my students encounter technical difficulties, which they often do.
Not only will these Chromebooks be able to provide my students with iReady instruction, they will also be able to use them to work with a partner on a project, during centers and for math activities as well. This type of technology is helpful in so many ways and would be an amazing and appreciated addition to my classroom.
