We are a relatively new school who is in the process of building a strong Special Education Program. We have 8 Special Education Teachers who serve approximately 200 students with a wide range of learning abilities. Our building is a 3 story building with students and teachers spread out amongst the three floors.
Special Educations students often need their work modified in some format such as students may need the material printed in larger text, some may need the materials broken up in sections, some may need the materials printed in color to highlight key information, and some may need the materials printed over repeatedly allowing them more opportunities to grasp a concept.
Being in a multi level building it has become quite difficult to access a printer in quickly to meet the needs of our students. We also do not have access to a color printer. We as teachers have been bringing our own printers from home and supplying the ink for them. However this has become a very costly endeavor for us. We are seeking assistance in purchasing printers that not only print in black and white, but also in color. We also want to minimize the cost of ink. The printers we are requesting are refillable and will not require replacement cartridges.
While we have 8 Special Education Classrooms, we know that it would be to large of a cost to supply each teacher with a classroom printer. Our hopes are that we can place one on each floor in a special education classroom. This would give multiple Special Education Teachers access to printing materials to properly address the learning needs of our students.
