In order for students to meet the Food and Nutrition curriculum standards to plan and prepare healthy meals, we must first raise funds to purchase the groceries. The small, kitchen appliances requested facilitate making low-budget recipes such as pretzels, waffles, energy bars, and other quick snack items that the students can sell in the school courtyard. With the funds generated from the sale of the snack items, we will be able to purchase fresh and healthy foods to prepare. Additionally, the appliances will be available for classroom use as the students demonstrate food preparation skills.
Through hands-on cooking experiences, my students develop confidence, leadership, and communication skills that support future employability.
