I am a first year teacher and my classroom came with an inheritance of deeply damaged tables. My students currently must work from tables that have holes in the writing surface, wobbly uneven and damaged legs, and bowing tabletops. I needed to retire 4 of the 10 tables my room began with, and managed to replace three of those with mismatched, already damaged tables from other teacher's rooms. Nine tables are enough to meet my students' needs, but each day they must come to class and work on surfaces which distract from learning and do not reinforce my classroom theme, "Science shines, and so do you". This morning I had to move students around because a table leg had given way and that table was unsafe for anyone until an emergency repair could be made a few classes later. New tables, easy to move around the room to support different types of learning experiences, from labs, to group work, to watching educational movies, to class discussion formats will add tremendously to the comfort and focus of this classroom. Thank you so much.
