My classroom is filled with diversity, and we need a classroom library that is reflective of students. The books in this project will appeal to students as they build their literacy skills and grow as readers because they will be able to see themselves in the books they read. I want to use the bookstands and bookcases to showcase books as an effort to encourage readers. I teach a diverse group of students that long to read books they see a piece of themselves in. My goal for this project is for a diverse classroom library to meet the needs of diverse readers. While my students face many challenges, my hope is that this selection of books will encourage them while developing their literacy skills.
