The books that I am requesting will make a difference in our classroom in so many ways! The first way, is I teach my first graders early on that if you learn to read you will succeed. If you learn to read you will not only succeed, but lead. When you succeed and lead you can go to college to obtain a job, buy food, a home, a vehicle, etc. I don't think first grade it too early to teach them how important reading is in their lives. The books we currently have are old and torn and no longer fun for the students to read. I would love nothing more to put some new, fresh look
There is nothing better to first graders than listening to the voice of their teachers read! I have had students cheer and clap when it's time to read stories at the carpet over the years. What the students will not even realize is that when they are listening to these books in awe they are learning and connecting with the lessons my colleagues and I have written to go along with the books. These books will help tremendously during reading and writing mini lessons and discussions, the books are related to ALL of the objectives and standards.
Again, these books will ensure that my first graders move onto second grade as learners and lovers of books.
Thank you for your consideration.
