As a special education teacher I have realized every student is unique and learns in their own way. In my first grade classroom I am hoping to offer students a choice of where to sit each day. They will be given the responsibility to find a good working spot where they can increase their involvement in daily lessons. With your donation I hope to have tall stools at a high table, chairs with fidget bands, wobble stools, and scoop rockers so that students can work on the carpet with a clipboard while being closer to the board. Allowing students the chance to participate in flexible seating will increase their concentration which therefore increases their academics!!
With your donation I am so excited to add to my classroom library!
So many students today have social/emotional needs. My population of students participate in daily social groups. These generous donations will add a variety of books to my classroom. The books will engage my students in teachable moments through classroom activities and classroom discussions to help with recognizing emotions, following classroom/playground rules, dealing with anger, etc. There is also a variety of non-fiction books to peak students' interest. It is a goal of mine to find books my students WANT to read. I want them to LOVE reading and offering more book options helps achieve that goal!
