About 50% of my students have the ability to express ideas vocally but have difficulty grasping a pencil or using a pen/pencil to convey their ideas due to ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). A perfect accommodation for these challenges is allowing students to use a keyboard to complete assignments. Students will learn to type, to email, to research the job market, and even complete applications online!
My priority is to develop my students' independence, as they face many challenges that will require support from others throughout their lives. Learning to navigate everyday electronics will improve my students' learning outcomes at school, at home, and in the community, and lead to more independent lives.
