As a first year Kindergarten teacher, I am looking to provide my incoming students with flexible seating options. Many young children need to move while they are learning and standard chairs can become restrictive or uncomfortable for students.
Using wobbly chairs and yoga ball seats will allow my students to move during instructional time. Having the knowledge that children naturally move around and providing them with seating that allows for their natural movement, I am providing opportunities for students to maximize their learning.
I am also looking to provide an area in my classroom where students may go to regroup on an individual basis. Providing a large cube will create an area for students to move to a space within the classroom and calm themselves while still being allowed access to the classroom, and minimalizing lost instructional time.
