I would like to create a peace corner in every classroom at our school. Sometimes students feel anxiety, frustration, anger, or other emotions. When students feel like that it's really hard to learn and make good choices. When we have strong uncomfortable feelings our brains have a tough time learning. It happens to everyone! Students need a place in the room where they can effectively self regulate and take a controlled break and get their brains ready to learn again.
Peace corners provide a special place for students to take care of their feelings, calm their bodies and brains down in order to get ready to think and learn again. Students use special tools to help them take care of their feelings.
Tools include sensory items, breathing visuals, and mandala coloring. Each classroom will have a toolkit for their peace corner. I will visit each classroom to teach the students how to effectively use the tools in the peace corner.
