This is a hands-on project where students will able to use 3D simulated skulls to explore brain growth and development. Students will measure the skulls, capture and graph data, and learn about basic trends in hominid evolution from our early ancestors to modern humans. They will have the exciting opportunity to measure brain size, jaw size, determine language, and more. The hands-on nature of this project and the use of 3D printing that provides visual conceptualization is key to the students' understanding of the human brain and its functions. Each aspect of the project allows them to increase their spacial awareness, use various complex and challenging skills in science, technology, engineering, and math that are applicable to other subjects and better prepares them for high school and beyond.
