Building with blocks provides one of the most valuable learning experiences young children can have. Block play, not only develops fine and gross motor skills, it also stimulates learning in all domains of development: intellectual, physical, social-emotional and language.
Building with blocks is an open ended activity that allows students unlimited possibilities to create anything they can imagine. They use social skills and language to communicate and work together, and math skills to test and problem solve. Through this process children begin to focus more on the things they have in common and less on the things that make them different. These skills are the foundation of many executive function skills they will need to be successful students and adults in the future!
