The novel, A Long Way Down, by Jason Reynolds, is a young adult novel written in prose. It is a beautifully written story to which many of my students can relate and will be very interested in. The novel lends itself to rich class discussions about choice, freedom, rules, relationships and consequences.
We will read this novel together as a class and analyze the prose, while discussing the characters who will become our friends! I would like to have one class set to use for my three classes of seventh grade students.
The students will do many hands-on activities with the novel including projects of their choice.
