"Sitting still is overrated. It makes sense for the opera or for meditating, but in most classrooms and child care centers, it's given far more honor than it deserves. Children need to move." ~Tom Hunter, National Association for the Education of Young Children. "Classrooms that are student centered are successful." Our classroom is very unique because we are a flexible seating classroom. This means that we have a variety of different seating choices for the students to choose from when they are working in class. Research has shown that this helps improve focus and productivity. Research suggests that the use of alternative seating may provide students with the opportunity to move just enough to assist children in learning more effectively. We are very fortunate to have many options for alternative seating, but my students are seeking more options to complete our flexible seating classroom! Students who need to move more could select a wobble chair to help them focus. No matter what option a student chooses, I envision students being more motivated and engaged in their learning in a more comfortable environment. Your donation will provide students with an opportunity to make a choice that is best for their learning needs.
