A Magnetic Board is a must when it comes to the instructional routines and procedures of a Take Flight Lesson. Take Flight is a comprehensive intervention for students with Dyslexia. Students with Dyslexia require instruction that is explicit, systematic and of sufficient duration because their brains function differently than other students. Take Flight accomplishes this through a multisensory approach to instruction.
In a multisensory approach to instruction, the magnetic whiteboard is used to display sound pictures, write spelling and reading rules, as well as, provide a space to model procedures such as pull-down sound picture, touch and spell, name and write, code and read, find the vowels to be sounded and divide between the syllables.
A magnetic whiteboard, compared to a magnetic chalkboard, would avoid chalk dust allergens, provide more space to model and enable the use of different colored markers to emphasize the various steps in the instructional procedures such as name and write, code and read, find the vowels to be sounded and divide between the syllables.
