My students will be working in small groups to build their understanding of the Bill of Rights. Primary sources are difficult for younger students to understand. Yet, all Americans need to understand their rights in this country. My students will read each of the 10 amendments from primary sources and then have this resource to translate what each of these rights mean in current day vocabulary. Students will get to interpret what each amendment means to them and share that understanding in a variety of ways (digital, art, music, writing).
By donating this resource, my students can learn the importance of the Bill of Rights, by having it translated into kid-friendly terms. With the mixture of backgrounds and cultures that exist in my class, my students will learn about their rights as Americans no matter their background. This resource will greatly assist students learning about a very important founding document.
