As a first-year teacher, one of my goals is to have positive classroom management, and I want to achieve this by allowing most everything be student directed. Having a three-tiered utiltiy cart at each cooperate group, will allow for students to access all of their needed materials in a quick, accessible manner, that allows for learning to continue without disruptions.
Another goal, is to build a positive classroom climate. I would like to do this by starting each morning with morning meetings at the carpet, this is why I am in need of a rug. I want this to be a place for students to build in relationships with me and their peers.
Another aspect I am looking to achieve in my classroom, is students ability to perform tasks in their desired location, so sitting on the carpet, on the floor, or various locations in the classroom. This allows students to feel in charge of their own work, and gives them a sense of freedom.
