As adult learners, we often learn at home and choose comfortable seating to help us focus in on what we want to learn. As a public school student, we ask you to focus for 4-6 hours a day while sitting on hard plastic chairs under florescent lights or on the hard floor. Would you be able to stay focused? Or would your mind be thinking about how uncomfortable you are or maybe ways to get up and move: I need a drink, the bathroom, the nurse, etc. This is the movement we face every day while trying to give directions or a lesson. Even engaging lessons are not enough to keep kids in their hard uncomfortable seats. I want to be able to provide my students with options to make learning a comfortable experience. I am hoping it will decrease the amount of interruptions caused by students just needing to move for comfort.
