EXERCISE reduces symptoms of depression and negative mood by affecting brain biochemistry. It may improve self-esteem, cognitive function and even academic achievement. RHYTHM is linked to altered brain frequencies and improved brain blood flow that may enhance focus, higher-level thinking and decision making skills.
By disguising moderate to vigorous intensity activity with music, I could promote elevated moods and relieve symptoms of anxiety, depression, and hostility (promoting mental health!)
Familiar music generated from the iPod and speakers would create a healthy brain/body connection fostering a love of movement in my students. The Aiwa speaker would be used indoors. The Soundbok 2, would afford students to be outside in the fresh air performing activities like POUNDfit, Yoga, and supporting the community running club.
