Currently, my students have a choice to work in a variety of locations in my room when working independently such as: at different tables, or sitting or laying on the floor with a clip board, stationery stools, and comfortable chairs. Making sure students are comfortable and giving them a choice is an essential component in motivation. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating such as being more engaged, less disruptive, and can complete more work. This flexible seating will also provide a way for active students to be able to learn during a lesson without interfering with others as well as working independently.
